Employee Health and Well-Being Offerings

Rice University’s commitment to fostering an Empowered Campus Culture is reflected in its investment in employee health and well-being. The Employee Health and Well-Being Program enhances faculty and staff’s well-being, engagement, and overall workplace experience. This wellness program directly supports efforts to create a workplace where well-being is integrated into daily life, reinforcing a culture that values inclusion, belonging, and purpose. By expanding access to wellness resources, offering personalized health insights, and providing opportunities for behavioral health support, these initiatives contribute to a thriving campus environment. Wellness Wednesdays
This initiative is dedicated to employee well-being and focuses on a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, featuring many opportunities for employees to participate with university leaders in different ways. Throughout the academic year, sessions are held once a month across campus.


Well-Being Outreach Services
The Employee Health and Well-Being Team provides complimentary wellness experiences to support staff and faculty in living a healthy lifestyle and working well. All department leaders are eligible to request private, onsite services that support the well-being needs of the staff/faculty within the organization.


Chair Massages
Life can get busy, but your well-being matters. With expert massage therapists, our chair massages are a quick and effective way to relax, ease muscle tension, and reset your mind.


Nirvana: A Moment to Breathe
Regular meditation session can yield long-term health benefits and reduce the symptoms of stress and anxiety. Attend our FREE guided meditations every Thursday at noon at the Rice Memorial Chapel, and start your journey to becoming a calmer, more peaceful you! No registration is required.

Owl-Liance Program
This employee-led initiative empowers university employees to serve as peer leaders who promote well-being initiatives, connect colleagues with well-being resources across campus, and contribute to an empowered campus culture.


MicroBoost Mondays
Join us on the first Monday of every month! Press pause once a month with this 15-minute wellness reset for faculty and staff. Each session delivers practical, evidence-based tools you can use immediately. No prep, no pressure, no homework. Show up as you are, take away one useful idea, and return to your day feeling calmer, clearer, and more supported.
