President Reginald and Paula DesRoches and the university's leadership team are partnering with the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center to bring Wellness Wednesdays to campus. This initiative is dedicated to employee well-being and focuses on a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, featuring many opportunities for employees to participate with university leaders in different ways. Throughout the academic year, sessions are held once a month across campus. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025.
October Wellness Wednesday: H-Owl-oween Pumpkin Power
Join Tommy McClelland, vice president and director of Athletics, and the Employee Health and Well-Being team for a spirited, pumpkin-powered workout! This 45-minute session will feature a fun, functional movement circuit using pumpkins as your workout partner. As we lift, push and squat, expect a great full-body workout while celebrating H-Owl-oween the Rice way; no tricks, just treats!

 - Locker room and shower access available
 - Rice EMS will provide free blood pressure checks
