RICE UNIVERSITY

Wellness Wednesdays

President Reginald and Paula DesRoches and the university's leadership team are partnering with the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center to bring Wellness Wednesdays to campus. This initiative is dedicated to employee well-being and focuses on a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, featuring many opportunities for employees to participate with university leaders in different ways. Throughout the academic year, sessions are held once a month across campus. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

March Wellness Wednesday: Owl Eyes and Morning Skies

Join Leo Costello, associate professor and department chair of Art History and faculty senate speaker, and the Rice Employee Health and Well-Being team for a relaxing morning of birding at the Johnson Owl Deck. This guided session will introduce participants to the basics of bird watching while enjoying the natural beauty right here on Rice’s campus. Whether you’re a seasoned bird enthusiast or simply curious to learn something new, this event offers a refreshing opportunity to step outside, unwind and connect with colleagues. Bring your curiosity and see what birds, and maybe a few owls, you can spot!
