President Reginald and Paula DesRoches and the university's leadership team are partnering with the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center to bring Wellness Wednesdays to campus. This initiative is dedicated to employee well-being and focuses on a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, featuring many opportunities for employees to participate with university leaders in different ways. Throughout the academic year, sessions are held once a month across campus. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026.
February Wellness Wednesday: Giddy Up and Groove Line Dancing
With the Houston Rodeo season around the corner, join Kelly Fox, executive vice president for Operations, Finance, and Support, and the Rice Employee Health and Well-Being team for a high-energy line dancing session that is sure to get your boots scootin' and your heart pumping! In recognition of February being American Heart Month, attendees are encouraged to wear red and enjoy our "heart-health focused photo-booth" in between dances. With great music, easy-to-follow steps and plenty of Texas flair, this lively session is the perfect midday boost of cardio, coordination and community.
