Stretching, Mobility & Recovery Services

Post-exercise recovery is a vital component of the overall exercise training paradigm, and essential for high-level performance and continued improvement.

In general, it’s assumed that increased training is the ultimate prescription for improvement. We eat, sleep, train, repeat—constantly striving to get bigger, stronger, faster, or slimmer. However, did you know that the time you spend working out is only one part of the equation necessary to achieve your fitness goals? One of the most powerful ways to achieve the most proportional health and fitness routine actually depends on how you maximize your recovery period after your workout. If you want the most from your exercise program, developing a specific strategy for how to recover will help ensure that all your hard work will have the most desired effect.

Rest and recovery are often misunderstood, undervalued, and overlooked.

Taking a single rest day after a hard workout isn’t the only—or even best -- way to recover. Our fitness experts will teach you valuable techniques to support your recovery efforts and are there to provide hands-on assistance and support.

Hit reset. Decrease pain. Move better.

No matter our age, the ability of our joints to move through a full range of motion is crucial for physical movement. Increasing flexibility can help prevent injuries, impact exercise recovery speed, and decrease musculoskeletal pain. Our customized stretch and recovery services will help you move with the freedom and ease that comes from pliable, more supple muscle, fascia, and connective tissue.

Stay strong and coordinated.

As we age, even the most active of us will experience a decline in strength, swiftness, and stamina. Our muscle mass begins to shrink as early as 35, and on average, adults who don’t do regular strength training can expect to lose 4 to 6 pounds of muscle per decade. Our strength and mobility programs will guide you through functional movements in an environment that preserves balance and joint stability, and avoids injury and risk.

Flexibility can be improved at any age when flexibility training is incorporated into a regular exercise routine.

Like remembering things and making friends, bending gradually gets harder as you age. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to keep your flex! Check out our services below to learn more.

Meet Laci Kemp, our new recovery practitioner who will be guiding you during the stretch sessions.

“Hi, my name is Laci and I grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and played sports all my life. After a bad knee injury, I decided to dedicate my life to helping athletes and individuals of all fitness levels reach their goals. After graduating with my BS in Kinesiology from THE Prairie View A&M University in 2019, I jumped straight into rehabilitation and preventative care at a chiropractic facility where I trained in various forms of recovery such as: manual therapy, IASTM, corrective exercises, and different modalities of stretching. I LOVE Beyoncé, Harry Potter and food!”

Please note: Sessions, Balanced Body assessments, and packages purchased will expire 1 year from the date of purchase. All stretch and recovery services are non-refundable.

Mobility Clinics
This year, dedicate time to care for your body!

As we progress in life, poor movement patterns, injury, and stationary positions cause our fascia and connective tissues to change and shorten, often resulting in painful or restricted movement. Not only can this create discomfort in the body, it can also decrease our activity level, and hamper our ability to live a full, adventurous life.

This year, the Rice Fitness Program will host a series of mobility clinics targeting the most commonly impaired joints. Each clinic will include a combination of stretching, foam rolling, and stability work, all designed to promote better movement and improved functional range of motion. Participants are free to register for one, or take them all!

Expect this class to “hurt so good” as you roll, release, smash, and stretch your way to true functional improvement.

We will have 1 more clinic during the Fall 2023 semester:

  • 12/7/23 at Noon

Location: Mind, Body, Recovery Studio
Pricing: Rice Recreation Members: $10; Non-Members: $15
