Outdoor Trips and Registration
R.O.P.E. offers a variety of trips each semester that are designed for all experience levels. All trip registrations include transportation, meals, equipment rentals, and guided instruction by our skilled Outdoor Trip Leaders. Trip Cancellation/Refund Policy
There are no refunds for trips, unless the trip is cancelled by ROPE, or a participant experiences an unforeseen family or medical emergency. In the latter instances, the decision for a full or partial refund will be made by the Assistant Director for Outdoor Programs. All refund requests must be submitted in writing 48 hours prior to the trip. Supporting documentation may be requested.

Horseback Riding and Cookout
Join ROPE as we explore the piney woods north of Houston like true Texans. We'll hop on our horses and take a guided tour of the area around Cypress Creek, completing the experience with an outdoor cookout in the area.This is a beginner-level ride, no experience necessary.
ROPE is heading out to Longhorn Caverns for a wild cave tour that is well off the beaten path. We will meet at the Outdoor Adventure Center at 6:00 PM on Friday and drive to Inks Lake State Park where we will spend a night under the stars. Saturday morning we will make the short drive to Longhorn Caverns State Park for our 2.5 hr guided tour that includes ample crawling, climbing, and adventure! We will return to campus that afternoon.
Come mountain biking with ROPE to the Double Lake Recreation Area where we will be taking the 21 mile pathway around scenic Double Lake! MOUNTAIN BIKE NOT PROVIDED.
Backpacking at Grand Canyon
Prepare for the greatest adventure of them all: ROPE's Spring Break Trip! This year we're pushing the limits with how much outdoor fun can be had in 8 days by heading out to one of the country's most iconic and beautiful destinations, the Grand Canyon. Take a break from the noise of the city and experience the untamed and unparalleled beauty of the desert in spring.
Day Hike at Brazos Bend
ROPE will be heading to Brazos Bend State Park for a relaxing and refreshing day hike. Just outside of the city, this state park encloses a lake and boasts an array of wildlife: white-tailed deer, raccoon, opossum, armadillo, and much more! So come join us for a fantastic day hike around Elm Lake, a picnic lunch, and some fresh air. Please sign up one person at a time.
Canoeing the Colorado River
ROPE takes on the Colorado River in Columbus, TX! Along this loop of the river, we will make a relaxing float down a scenic stretch of the Colorado River, stopping for lunch along the way. Prepare for an opportunity to escape the city and experience the dense and lively woods just west of Houston!
Surf & Paddle
Join ROPE for a day at the beach! We will be heading down to Surfside, Texas with our surfboards to catch some awesome springtime waves! Surfside is truly a wonderful Texas coastal city; with miles of unspoiled shoreline, coastal marsh, rivers and bays. You will have the opportunity to surf, kayak, paddle board, play beach games and have an amazing time!
Hiking & Climbing
We're heading out to one of Texas' most iconic and beautiful natural features for 4 days of premier hiking and climbing. Towering above the Texas Hill Country with acres of exposed pink granite and unique rock formations, Enchanted Rock is like no other outdoor destination in Texas. Join us as we enjoy the fresh greenery and wildflower blooms of springtime deep in the Heart of Texas.
Join ROPE as we go to Wake Nation for some fun on the water! Beginner as well as experienced water sports enthusiasts are encouraged to come. Wake Nation utilizes a cable system to pull wakeboarders around the lake. Please, sign up one person at a time.
Join ROPE for a weekend at the beach! We will be heading down to Galveston Island State Park with our surfboards to catch some awesome waves, and then camp on the beach on Saturday night. Wake up Sunday morning to the salty ocean breeze and take the opportunity to try ROPE's boogie boards, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and various beach games!
