Outdoor Trips and Registration | Friday Night Climb
Friday Night Climbs are currently not offered for Fall 2021 due to reservation restrictions. Shoe rentals are available for individual use for bouldering, but harnesses are not available.
Looking for something to jazz up your Friday evenings? R.O.P.E. sponsors Friday night indoor climbing trips to Texas Rock Gym! Each member of the group will get to spend over two thrilling hours scaling walls at his/her own pace. Whether you've never climbed or climb on a daily basis, all students are invited to join us. Bouldering, top-rope, and lead climbing are available, and all skill levels are welcome (gym certification required for lead climbing).
Trip cost is $15.00 and includes gym entrance fee, transportation, climbing harness and shoe rental (sizes are available on a first come first serve basis). If this is your first time climbing, participants will need to pay $10.00 at the gym for a one-time belay and safety class. Experienced climbers may request to test out of belay class at gym.
Online registration for each Friday Night Climb closes at 6:15pm on the day of the climb. All registrations must be completed online.
For each Friday Night Climb, participants meet at 6:15 PM to check out gear. Arrivals after 6:30 are not guaranteed rentals. The trip leaves promptly 6:45 PM. We usually return to campus by 10:30 PM.
*Equipment rental may still be available for participants who can provide personal transportation. Equipment must be returned to staff prior to return to Rice that evening.
FNC Cancellation Policy
- Participant cancellations made less than 7 days prior to the event are not eligible for a refund.
- There is a $5 fee for all cancellations and transfers. Participants will be issued a credit to apply towards their next trip or FNC.
- In the event ROPE should cancel a trip, we will issue a full credit or refund for registration fees. Trips may be cancelled for severe weather, road conditions, recreation area closures, instructor illness, and registration numbers.
