Exciting Updates Coming to the Rec Center
Over the next few months, the Rice Recreation Center will undergo building projects (most done over Winter Break) aimed at enhancing your experience. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused during this time and appreciate your patience as we work to create the best possible environment for our patrons. Projects:
Painting brise-soleils
- Start date: Dec. 4
- Duration: 2 weeks
- Comments: The back hallway near the women's locker room will be the only access to the pool.
Paint Activity Walls
- Start date: Dec. 26-30, 2024
- Duration: 4-5 days
- Comments: The weight room will remain open but equipment will be moved around for painting.
Repaint Spalling
- Start date: tentatively Dec. 26-30, 2024
- Duration: 4-5 days
- Comments:
Roof Maintenance
- Start date: tentatively Dec. 16, 2024
- Duration: 8-10 weeks
- Comments: This project is expected to be finished on March 1, 2025.
Gyms 1 and 2, MPR 3 Floors
- Start date: Dec. 16, 2024
- Duration: 2.5 weeks
- Comments: This project is expected to be finished on Jan. 6, 2025. MPR 3 will be closed from Dec. 13, 2025 until Jan. 2, 2025. Gyms 1 and 2 will be closed from Dec. 20, 2025 until Jan. 6, 2025.
New Pool Deck Area by Recreation Pool
- Start date: TBD
- Duration: 3 weeks
- Comments: The back hallway near the women's locker room will be the only access to the pool.
Men's Locker Room Shower Tile Maintenance
- Start date: Dec. 26, 2024
- Duration: 2 days
- Comments: There will be no water access in the men's locker room showers during this time.
