If you are heading out on the trail for a day of hiking, be prepared and carry all the food, water, and layers you might need. A throwback to a classic look, our day packs can help organize and carry the load throughout the day.

ROPE carries Deuter Gröden Day Packs, an adjustable backpack for all experience levels. All-day packs have a 32-liter capacity, including an integrated rain cover, water reservoir pocket, and packable hip belt.

Rental Equipment Policies

Reservations must be made in-person at the Outdoor Adventure Center. There is no additional reservation fee, but full payment for the rental must be made at time of reservation.

ROPE does not issue refunds in the event of patron cancellations. Cancellations made more than seven days prior to pick-up will be issued their rental form as credit for a future rental within the next six months. Patrons are responsible for retaining their rental form. Cancellations seven days or less forfeit rental fees.

Rice University assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries from the use of rented equipment.

If the equipment is returned damaged or excessively dirty, the renter may be subject to additional fees. This includes the cost of materials required to fix the items. If equipment is damaged beyond repair, the full retail value of the item and shipping costs will be charged.

Patrons returning rental gear beyond its due date will be subject to the late fees. Payment will be required upon the successful return of the gear. If the gear is not returned within two weeks of the rental due date, then full retail value plus late fees will be charged. The patron's Rice account will be charged if payment is not made within seven days.
