Summer/Recess Hours
Beginning Saturday, April 27, the Recreation Center will operate under summer/recess hours.

What is an EN Comfort Rating? EN stands for European Norm Comfort Rating. At this temperature a "standard individual" should be comfortable in the sleeping bag. Keep in mind the individual and environmental conditions can impact how warm each person sleeps. ROPE recommends using the EN Comfort Rating as the lower limit for most recreational users. Experienced users may wish to consider the Lower EN rating in conjunction with their personal equipment like sleeping pad and clothing.
Rental Equipment Policies
Reservations must be made in-person at the Outdoor Adventure Center. There is no additional reservation fee, but full payment for the rental must be made at time of reservation.
ROPE does not issue refunds in the event of patron cancellations. Cancellations made more than seven days prior to pick-up will be issued their rental form as credit for a future rental within the next six months. Patrons are responsible for retaining their rental form. Cancellations seven days or less forfeit rental fees.
Rice University assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries from the use of rented equipment.
If the equipment is returned damaged or excessively dirty, the renter may be subject to additional fees. This includes the cost of materials required to fix the items. If equipment is damaged beyond repair, the full retail value of the item and shipping costs will be charged.
Patrons returning rental gear beyond its due date will be subject to the late fees. Payment will be required upon the successful return of the gear. If the gear is not returned within two weeks of the rental due date, then full retail value plus late fees will be charged. The patron's Rice account will be charged if payment is not made within seven days.
