Chris Watkins is the Assistant Director for Competitive Sports for the Rice Recreation Center. He oversees the Intramural and Club Sports programs, Co-Coordinates the Summer Youth Activity Program (SYAP), and teaches Lifetime Physical Activity Program (LPAP) courses. Originally from Dallas, Texas, (Go Cowboys and Rangers!) Chris earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his master’s from the University of Tennessee.
As a baseball and soccer player growing up, Chris has always had a passion for sports, whether playing, watching, or officiating. In his spare time, he loves spending time with his wife and son, as well as playing video games and slow-pitch softball. If he had it his way, Rice would be on the cutting edge of the e-sports phenomenon, but his bosses, “Don't want to support such sedentary activities”. Contact him if you disagree so he can build his case!
