Summer Youth Activity Program Employment

If you are a college student considering a career in athletics/recreation, sports management, coaching, teaching, dance, theater, fine arts, child development, child psychology or management of any kind, working for us will provide you with practical, meaningful experience to build your resume. Lifeguards and Swim Instructors

The Aquatics program is always interested in hiring quality lifeguards and water safety instructors. We are looking for Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors with current American Red Cross certification. If you are not certified, we encourage you to sign up for one of our certification courses or seek out local places that offer the certification.

Intramural Sports Official

Intramural sports officials are responsible for all rules, policies, and procedures of the game being played and should provide excellent customer service to all participants. Requirements include general knowledge of sport(s), interest in officiating, and availability to work evenings and/or weekends. We train our officials for flag football, basketball, softball, volleyball, and floor hockey.

Outdoor Trip Leader

Outdoor trip leaders for R.O.P.E. are responsible for planning and executing our outdoor trips. Leaders are expected to create and foster meaningful environments for trip participants, while simultaneously ensuring the mental and physical safety of each individual. This position requires interpersonal communication skills, the ability to think critically and the flexibility to work both independently and with a co-instructor. No prior experience is necessary! Applications open November 1st each academic year.

Outdoor Adventure Center Supervisor

Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) supervisors are responsible for the overall supervision over outdoor equipment rentals, outdoor trip registrations, educational clinics, and the OAC facility. Supervisors are expected to anticipate potential problems, collaborate with other Recreation Center program areas, and maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the OAC. This position requires critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently.

Group Exercise Instructors or Personal Trainers

Interested in leading participants through exercise classes to improve their health? Successful applicants for this position are energetic, positive, and comfortable leading groups of people. This position requires previous experience with group fitness instruction.
