Reservations must be made in-person at the Outdoor Adventure Center. There is no additional reservation fee, but full payment for the rental must be made at time of reservation.
All reservations and fees must be paid by cash, credit card, or check made payable to Rice University. Currently, credit cards cannot be processed past 4:30 PM.
ROPE does not issue refunds in the event of patron cancellations within 7 days of rental pick-up. Cancellations made more than 7 days from the pick-up will be issued their rental form as credit for a future rental within the next 6 months. Patrons are responsible for retaining their rental form.
Persons returning rental gear beyond its due date will be charged the difference between the reservation rate and the next tier for rental pricing. Payment will be made upon the successful return of the gear. If the gear is not returned within 3 weeks of the rental due date, then the full retail value will be charged. The renter’s university account will be charged if payment is not made within 7 days.
If the equipment is returned damaged, the renter may be subject to repair fees. This includes the cost of materials required to fix the items plus a repair shop fee of $15 per hour. If equipment is damaged beyond repair, the full retail value of the item and shipping costs will be charged.
Individuals renting gear for an organized group are liable for all equipment listed in rental.
Rice University assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries resulting from the use of rented equipment.
