Rec Day 2018

Join us on Thursday, February 22, 2018, as we celebrate healthy lifestyles of fitness, recreation, and wellness! We will have an info table with all of our programming information set out, along with some fresh fruit, snacks, and giveaways throughout the day. We have a bunch of great activities lined up for you, so come out and join us!

Activity Descriptions:

Rec Center Tour: Have you been thinking about getting a membership to the Rec Center and need a little more information? Come get a tour of the facility where you can learn about everything that we have to offer with a Rec Center membership. There will be two tours. The first will start at 12:15pm, and the second at 5:15pm. Both tours will begin in the Rec Center Lobby.

Owl Pump: This strength and conditioning class works all major muscle groups. Exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls will strengthen and tone your entire body faster than your average weight-room routine!

Chiseled: Feel the burn with this total body workout. Each class will target all your major muscle groups, challenge you to the last rep, and leave you begging for more. 

Zumbathon: A fusion of Latin, International and popular music/dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!

Bootcamp: Experience this heart-pounding class that features sport conditioning drills, strength training and balance exercises.

Hatha Yoga: A mind-body practice that allows one to experience the present moment through balanced alignment in physical postures (asanas), deep breathing practices (pranayama), and mindful awareness by compassionately listening to one's body.

Chair Massages: Take a moment to relax with a top of the line chair massage within our facility.

Prize Wheel Activity Challenge: Spin the wheel and receive a fitness challenge. If you can complete the challenge you win a prize!

Rice Bikes & BCycle Promotions: Visit representatives from our on campus “Rice Bikes” and Bcycle to learn more about cycling opportunities in Houston and around campus. Limited promo items available!

3-Point Contest: Test your shooting skills in this fast paced event against other Rice Community members. Each contestant gets 45 seconds to make as many 3 point shots as possible. You are welcome to bring your own rebounder! Round 1 starts at 5pm. The top half of the field will enter round 2 at 6pm. Top two male and female contestants will shoot for the 3 point championship at halftime of the Rice Women’s Basketball Game Thursday, 3/1.

Restorative Yoga: A full hour of stretches and poses designed to help you release tension and move efficiently. You will reconnect with yourself and restore your body's natural balance.
