The Rice Recreation Center offers an array of free programs/workshops specifically designed to help alleviate stress and re-energize your spirit. Our menu of options is below and includes a whole section of services that don't even require you to leave your office. Whether you are member of the facility or not, let the Recreation Center support you on your path to recovery and revitalization.

Feeling a little overwhelmed? Take 20 minutes to focus on your wellbeing and reap the benefits! These guided imagery sessions may help decrease tension and increase concentration. Regular relaxation sessions can yield long-term health benefits and reduce symptoms caused by stress and anxiety. Just close your eyes...listen...relax.
After weeks of moving furniture and demolishing floors, give your body a chance to realign by learning stretches than can easily be performed in an office setting.
This workshop features tennis balls and lacrosse balls as well as foam rollers to help you target and release tight muscles and connective tissue.
Learn to avoid the pitfalls of stress-eating by practicing mindfulness, and finding healthy alternatives to popular snacks and ways to make water more palatable.

Nirvana sessions run from Aug. 20 - Dec. 14, 2018.
Nirvana sessions will not be held on Oct. 9, Oct.16. Oct. 18, Nov. 20 and Nov. 22.
What Should I Expect?
When you enter, you will be greeted by a nirvana facilitator who will ask you to sign in. You are free to sit wherever you feel comfortable. A limited number of zafu cushions are available if you would like to sit or lay on the floor. Feel free to bring your own pillow or mat if you choose. Sometimes the room can be cool, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket. Once everyone is seated, the facilitator will play a guided imagery CD. All you need to do is listen and relax!
