Rice fencing classes available for children and adults of all ages and skill levels. Come discover the fun and excitement of learning swordplay. We strive to offer an exceptional fencing experience for the beginner through advanced fencer and welcome fencers of all ages and skill levels. Beginners can get started with their training in our adult or children's fencing classes where they will learn the basic fundamentals that they can build upon if they decide to move on to a competitive level. Advanced competitive fencers can then benefit from one of the nations most acclaimed coaching staff. Our classes will cover the history of fencing, footwork, bladework, and strategies of the sport. The classes are designed to build a love of the sport and are fun, exciting, and provide great exercise.

Musketeer Class (Ages 3-6)

Looking for a fun way to get your child healthy and exercising? Rice is currently starting a new fencing class geared towards younger kids. Fencing is the choice that provides children a dynamic and creative outlet for their energy. Sign up now for our Little Musketeer Class for children ages 3-6 with little or no experience with fencing. We use special lightweight plastic weapons and focus on fun and familiarization.

Cavalier Class (Ages 6-12)

Our Cavalier Class is geared for kids 6-12. Fencing is an exciting and safe sport that teaches quick decision making, hand-eye coordination, and mental discipline. It helps develop the body and mind while the student has fun. This class is for those new to the sport and those who want to work on their fundamentals in a non-competitive environment. Class focuses on fundamentals, strategy, and fun.


Adult Class

Adult fencing classes are for all levels of fencers. Come in and learn to fence or practice your sport with other experienced fencers. Fencing is a great way to tone your body, sharpen your mind, and have fun while exercising. Come join us and learn! Class focuses on fundamentals, strategy, and fun.

 Summer Youth Fencing Program

Rice University Fencing Youth Summer Program is designed to introduce kids (ages 6-13) to the exciting sport of fencing. Throughout the week, beginning and intermediate youth fencers will learn the basics and improve their skills. The program includes warm-up games, footwork, agility and coordination development, fencing instruction, bouting, and fencing games.
