Rice Summer Dance 2013

Rice Summer Dance activities are designed to expose youth and teen students to the art of dance. Students will be introduced to a variety of dance techniques and styles. Experienced instructors will inspire, nurture and educate students in a non-competitive environment. In addition to creative development, students will learn about basic body alignment, increase flexibility, coordination, and general strength. All camps and workshops will conclude with an informal studio performance for family and friends.

Summer Dance Camp (Ages 9-12) 

The Rice Summer Dance Camp is two week of dancing and creative arts for ages 9-12. Students will take classes in ballet, jazz, modern and hip-hop technique from experienced instructors. Students will explore their creative side with choreography games and have the opportunity to make their own dances. Other activities will include craft time, dance movie screenings, music games, and yoga. The camp will culminate with an informal studio showing on the final day of class. All levels are welcome. Summer Dance Teen Workshop (Ages 13-16)  

 The Rice Summer Dance Teen Workshop is designed to allow older students to explore their passion and interest in dance. Students will take classes in ballet, modern, jazz/hip hop technique. Classes in improvisation and choreography will allow students to express their own ideas and learn how to make dances. The workshop will culminate with an informal studio performance on the final day of classes. Other activities will include yoga, rhythmic analysis, dance movie screening and composition.
