Dance Programs and Rice Dance Theatre

The Dance Program is dedicated to providing a broad spectrum of dance instruction to members of the Rice community and to providing support, assistance, and guidance to student dance organizations. We offer a multitude of specialty dance classes each semester, which vary in length, focus and cost. In addition, the Rice Dance Program runs Rice Dance Theatre, a student dance company that provides individuals with opportunities to perform, choreograph and study contemporary dance techniques as well as develop general skills related to dance production.

NEW! Dance Artist in Residence
In an effort to provide greater opportunity and resources for the development of dance, the Rice University Dance Program has created a semester long space residency that will be awarded to a Houston choreographer for the creation of new work. The Dance Artist in Residence will be expected to teach 2-3 technique classes for the Rice Dance Theater student dance club (RDT), participate in a question and answer session with RDT, and hold 2 open rehearsals for RDT to view their choreographic process. The grant recipient will be chosen by committee and the deadline for applications is April 30, 2013. Download the application here.
