• Flying Owls 5K

    The 10th Annual Flying Owls 5K will take place Sunday April 12, 2015. The race begins at 8:00 a.m.

    We encourage families, teams, students, runners and walkers to come out for a scenic run through the Rice University campus and for a post-race celebration with refreshments and entertainment. The funds raised through your participation in this event will contribute to providing educational opportunities that promote active and healthy living to the Rice students, faculty, and staff. The mission of the Recreation Center is to encourage a lifetime of health and wellness for the students, faculty, and staff of Rice University by promoting the physical, social, and emotional benefits of physical activity. To that end, a wide array of recreational programs and services has been created and are offered in an effort to increase knowledge about and provide opportunities for the development of healthy behavior patterns.

    REGULAR REGISTRATION

    Dates: February 23 - April 8, 2015
    Prices: Students $25 • Non-Students $30

    Registration price includes a ticket to a Rice Baseball game, chip timing, a race t-shirt, and prize giveaways.

    Prohibited Items

    • For safety and security reasons, we will not have a baggage drop at the start of the event. Participants are encouraged to plan accordingly. Bags/backpacks are not permitted at the starting line area.
    • Headphones are discouraged due to safety reasons.
    • Baby joggers, roller skates, bicycles or pets are prohibited.
